Our Generation The Open World Genre

Its the fourth part of the Our Generation series that Codec Moments are running, and theyve hit the Open World genre. Theres been an influx of these games over the last 8 years, largely due to the increase in power from the consoles, but also because Grand Theft Auto showed everyone what was possible with the right script and imagination. There have been a few critical successes (the Saints Row series), and some commercial failures (The Godfather II), but there have also been some great time killers out there, ones that you should think about getting if you spot them going cheap.

Saints Row 4 is not the only open-world game that gives you superpowers. It seems that your character in Grand Theft Auto 5 can fly as well. And not just like any bird, but in the great style of superheroes.

MKGaming - "Saints Row IVs Enter The Dominatrix pack is a strange piece of DLC, and its history can be a tad confusing for those not keeping track, so Ill try to lay it out simple. ETD was originally revealed as a piece of DLC for Saints Row III, with the reveal happening on April Fools day. This eventually turned into a whole new game, Saints Row IV, and the world was a better place when it was released. Then, ETD was re-announced as DLC for SRIV, and journalists around the world went huh?. Now, finally released, it acts as an amusing diversion from an already amusing game."

Chiconuclear writes:- GTA V is sublimated sandbox, what Saints Row IV gets to escape the wild form any intention of representing reality, GTA V does (and better) framing itself in a city that not only looks real, but it feels real, alive, organic; gives us the tools to exploit it (sometimes literally) overwhelmed at first and fascinate the end, when we adapt to the environment and the people who inhabit it.
